Imagine 2010, Southbank Centre, 6 February – 2 March 2010

Imagine, the UK’s brightest children’s festival, fills Southbank Centre with wonderful readings, storytelling and poetry featuring some of today’s leading children’s writers, as well as comedy, visual arts, magic and music. Free performances and workshops run throughout the festival in The Bibliomancer’s Dream – a magical library of books on The Clore Ballroom floor in Royal Festival Hall.

Animal Magic Weekend, London Wetland Centre, 13 – 14 February 2010

London Zoo

During the week of half term at London Zoo, visitors have the chance to take advantage of the daily activities that reveal the everyday lives of some of the exotic animals that live in the zoo. Head to the penguin pool at 2pm to watch the black and white birds gobble up their daily allocation of fish, and listen to the keepers as they explain what special care and attention the penguins need.

London Wetland Centre, 03 – 21 December 2009

Christmas Trees will be sold at the London Wetland Centre Car Park this year.  The Christmas trees come from eco-friendly sustainable sources. Species sold are Noble Fir and Nordmann Fir  and range between 3.5 to 10 ft.  £1 per tree sold is donated to the London Wetland Centre.

Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree, 03 December 2009 – 05 January 2010

The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place this year on 3 December at Trafalgar Square followed by a season of carol singing.  The tree is a gift to the people of London from Norway, which has been given by the Norwegian capital Oslo as a token of gratitude for Britain’s support during World War II.  The tree will remain in Trafalgar Square until 5 January 2010, after which it will be recycled.
