St Paul’s Cathedral, 03 November 2009
Bob Hoskins, star of Disney’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ will be switching on the lights in the cathedral. There will be live music from opera singer Andrea Bocelli, Spandau Ballet, Little Boots and Britain’s Got Talent star Faryl Smith, Scouting for Girls and the St Pauls Cathedral Choir. There will also be a world record attempt for all to take part in, in a mass Christmas Carol sing along.

Regent Street and Oxford Street, 03 November 2009 – 05 January 2010
A joint Christmas lights event following the theme of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ with stars of the new Disney adaptation turning on the illuminations. Jim Carrey will be turning on the lights on Oxford Street and Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn on Regent Street. There will also be live music from The Noisettes and Daniel Merriweather.

A Very Merry Christmas in Covent Garden, 12 November 2009 – 04 January 2010
The Market Building will be transformed by Christmas lights, chandeliers, a 40ft christmas tree, with live reindeer, choir performances, children’s storytelling, music and gingerbread workshops.

Following a 1960s theme of Love, Hope, Joy and Peace the area will be transformed with illuminations and a cascade of snowflakes and giant snowmen inflatables.

South Molton Street Christmas lights will be switched on by X Factor star Diana Vickers. Some stores will be offering special discounts and promotions and there will be a selection of free food and drink, Champagne, mulled wine, beer and mince pies with live music from Oompah Brass.

The Marylebone Christmas lights will be switched on amongst Champagne, mince pies, fireworks, street performers, carols, live music, a grotto and special appearance from Father Christmas from 4pm onwards.

Westfield with Mariah Carey, 19 November 2009
Mariah Carey launches her new album and turns on the Christmas Lights at Westfield. Her entrance up the Southern Terrace will begin at 6pm, turning on the lights in The Atrium at approximately 6.15pm. Her album cd sleeve signing will take place from 6.30pm.

Bond Noel on Bond Street, 19 November 2009
A one day shopping event in aid of Great Ormand Street Hospital which will see Bond Street transformed and covered in snow with street entertainment, fireworks, rickshaw sleighs, reindeer and carol singers. Lights will be switched on at 6pm by Anna Friel.

Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree Ceremony, 03 December 2009 – 05 January 2010
The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree lighting up ceremony takes place on the 3rd December with the lights staying on from midday to midnight daily until 5th January 2010. There is also carol singing taking place daily from 5 to 9pm until 22nd December 2009.The Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree, a gift from the people of Norway, is traditionally over 25 metres tall, over 50 years old and decorated in individual white lights.
