Dorfold Hall Park, Nantwich

The annual Nantwich Show and Nantwich Cheese Show return this year to Dorfold Park, and looks set to remain the premier agricultural event of the calendar. This year is set to be even bigger and better than last year, with a new 40m wide fully-airconditioned Cheese pavilion, an increased size Town & Country Shopping & Trade Pavilion, and a longer showground roadway, which is nearly a mile long! In addition there will be over 10 hours of countinuous displays, including Show Jumping, Heavy Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Dogs, Falconry, Gun Dog Displays, Jazz Music, and many more! Highlights include Jez Avery Stunt Display, and Josephs Amazing Racing Camels!

The Cheese Show is expecting a record 33,000 visitors. Last year a new record number of competitive entries of 2,655 from some 24 countries were made, maintaining the Nantwich Cheese Show’s reputation as the World’s Leading Cheese Show. Farmhouse Cheese, Stilton, Continental, Retailer, Snacking and many more classes will be on display, so there is bound to be something for you!

National Portrait Gallery

This exhibition explores gay social and cultural history through the unique personal insights of ten high profile gay figures, who have selected their historical and modern icons. The chosen icons (not all of whom are gay) range from artists and writers to composers, politicians, sports stars and entertainers.  It is these icons who have influenced those who chose them, and their stories are displayed here, along with over 60 photographic portraits, including works by Andy Warhol, Snowdon and Cecil Beaton. The icons inclue Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Daphne du Maurier, Quentin Crisp, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Benjamin Britten, k.d. lang, the Village People, Will Young, Ellen DeGeneres, Lily Savage, Kenneth Williams, Martina Navratilova, Ian Roberts, Harvey Milk, Angela Mason and many others.

National Gallery

This exhibition aims to chart the development of open-air landscape painting up to the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. It draws upon the National Gallery’s fabulous collection of 19th Century French landscapes, and features all of the major artists from the time, including Jean-Bapiste-Camille Corot, Simon Denis, Pierre Henri Valenciennes, Théodore Rousseau, Jean François Millet, Narcisse-Virgilio Diaz de la Peña, Claude Monet and others.

This is American artist Jeff Koons’ first major exhibition in the UK. This exhibition presents paintings and sculptures from his Popeye series, which he began in 2002. Buckingham Palace

During the summer months, the Queen makes her annual visit to Scotland, so Buckingham Palace’s nineteen state rooms are open to the public. Lavishly furnished, the state rooms are used extensively by the Royal Family for recieving and entertaining state guests. This year there is a special exhibition ‘Queen & Commonwealth: The Royal Tour’ celebrating the 60th anniversary of the London Declaration of 1949, which recognised the British Sovereign as Head of the Commonwealth. In this special exhibition are dresses, jewels, photographs, and gifts presented to Her Majesty by the people of the Commonwealth.
