He’s been around a while has Dave and of course his 7 inch collection is no joke…..
Here’s a spot of info on him for those of you that haven’t been paying attention over the past 20+ years!!!

Dave Jarvis has been around on the rave scene since before acid house kicked off, when he used to promote the soul sound systems of West London. In the first summer of love he ran parties around the M25 and he has been a stalwart of the rave scene ever since, running record stores, club nights and producing with Rocky and Diesel. Dave is also a founder member of FAITH, alongside Terry Farley and Stuart Patterson.

Dave plays everything, from straight up jackin’ house right through to boogie, funk, disco, soul, broken beat, northern soul and jazz (he’s never happier than when he’s mixing things up). His record collection – huge, fantastic – matches a fellow of such passion and dedication. Back room or front room, late or early, hither or thither, Dave’s your man – which is why we here at SDM are asking him back for a second time!!!!

Listening Post, Science Museum, 19th Feb 08 – 19th Feb 09

February 19, 2008toFebruary 19, 2009

Listening Post is a ‘dynamic portrait’ of online communication, displaying uncensored fragments of text, sampled in real-time, from public internet chatrooms and bulletin boards. Artists Mark Hansen and Ben Rubin have divided their work into seven separate ‘scenes’ akin to movements in a symphony. Each scene has its own ‘internal logic’, sifting, filtering and ordering the text fragments in different ways. By pulling text quotes from thousands of unwitting contributors’ postings, Listening Post allows you to experience an extraordinary snapshot of the internet and gain a great sense of the humanity behind the data. The artwork is world renowned as a masterpiece of electronic and contemporary art and a monument to the ways we find to connect with each other and express our identities online.

This new exhibition explores the science and technology that could boost crop yields. Do we need GM to increase food production in the future, or are there other options? Weigh up the benefits and risks – then step up to the table and have your say. This exhibition is supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research.

Japan Car, Designs for the Crowded Globe, Science Museum, 29th Nov – 19th April 09

November 29, 2008toApril 19, 2009

The world of Japanese car design set against the backdrop of Japan’s unique culture is explored in a sophisticated new exhibition at the Science Museum, from 29 November 2008. Japan Car, an exploration of the car as a “mobile cell”, has been conceived by two world class names from outside the world of automobile: Kenya Hara, the man responsible for much of the success of Muji, and Shigeru Ban, the distinguished Japanese architect currently designing a new satellite gallery in Metz for Paris’ Pompidou Centre. The exhibition shows how Japanese car design reflects the ’soil and the spirit of Japan’, shown through concept cars and special home market models. Japan Car explores three themes while examining the future of mobility in cities. Japan, being both highly innovative and densely populated, can be seen as the driving force behind transport solutions for twenty-first century cities.
